Integrated e-Business Solutions
Industry Paradigm
Many of the SW vendors attempted to develop web "solutions". It is essential to demystify "web solutions" attempting to replace legacy desktop applications. As experience demonstrates, such attempt resulted in dramatic decline in user productivity. Traditional application hierarchical architectures are control and functions centric and underpin requirements for service delivery so critical for retail industry which demands and needs support for applications with service oriented architectures.
Inherent qualities of a hierarchical system architecture further impose additional costs on design and implementation of evolving technologies, lead to cumbersome (cut corners) add-ons, complication of already chaotic designs and further system reliability degradation and increased cost of ownership. While several SW vendors announced products with similar description, their offerings are just a middleware set of tools targeting improvements of legacy desktop applications. It is a clever marketing approach to generate new sources of revenue in a form of professional services as well as additional HW sales.
